A lot: Most cardiac arrests happen with a slight (under 50%) blockage in a heart artery. A cholesterol plaque in the artery wall breaks through the inner artery, and a blood clot forms causing a complete blockage and a heart attack. You can lower your risk of this by keeping the inner lining of those arteries healthy by exercising (walking), eating healthily, and controlling your blood pressure and sugar.
