My question is what causes your vocal cords to be very itchy?

Tough question: It is hard to know what structures in your throat are causeing dicomfort. It may not be the vocal cords themselves. If the syptoms do not respond to simple measures right away i would see your doctor. Certain blood pressure meds can cause persistent throat itchiness. You might be having an allergic reaction to something. You might have an infection or a vocal cord polyp.
