Why?: Dopamine agonists generally don't make good antidepressants as there is rapid tolerance to this effect. This leads to agitation and addiction with dramatic worsening on discontinuation. There are better ways of getting enhanced Dopamine effect for depression with use of MAO inhibitors, wellbutrin or atypical antipsychotics like Abilify (aripiprazole) or seroquel.
