A member asked:

Could i get some advice my husband carries the schizophrenia gene, what is the chance that my child will have it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Risk: The risk of developing schizophrenia from one parent with the illness is about 6.5%. The risk for the general population is 1%. There seems to be many different genes involved. There are still a lot of unknowns. Peak periods of onset are usually late adolescence and early adulthood. See the graph i added. It gives you an idea of the genetics involved.
