There are many medication choices so it may take time to find the right medications (or combinations of meds) for an individual. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, combined with meds, has also been shown to be helpful with both disorders. Be patient with yourself and the process.

Schizoaffective D/O?: Combination med tx may be indicated. Meds fall into classes of mood stabilizers (Lithium​/ anticonvulsants like valproic acid, divalproex or lamotrigine) & atypical antipsychotics (Quetiapine, aripiprazole, olanzapine or risperidone). Other tx: psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy & family or group therapy.
