Short half-life: Cephalexin has a short half-life, about an hour or maybe longer depending on the patient's kidney function. If you notice, you are supposed to take it multiple times a day -which is why... the body washes it out pretty quickly. Usually after about five times the half-life, the medicine is totally gone... so depending on 'when' you took your last dose, it should be out within a day. Hope that helps
