Retinoid dermatitis?: What you are describing could be due to a sudden re-introduction of your differin (even though you had used in the past without issue), or it could be a new substance such as a cleanser. Stop both and re-introduce one at the time spacing them at least 2 weeks apart. If you need to use something topically on the rash, try over the counter Cortaid (hydrocortisone) for a few days.

Not Differin (adapalene): If it happened after you stopped the differin (adapalene) then i would not think it the cause. Contact dermatitis sis possible as is folliculitis and some other conditions. Seeing a dermatologist will help clarify what is actually the diagnosis and which treatment would be best.
