Not hypertension: A proper physical exam should reveal the cause. There's tricks to spot where the chest wall is and is not moving, including effusions and paralysis of a leaf of the diaphragm.

Not Likely: Hypertension can only be verified by actually having your blood pressure measured. In the vast majority of cases, hypertension does not cause any symptoms at all, which is why many tend to ignore it. Your symptoms are not specific enough to establish a firm impression. I'd suggest a follow up with your doctor. Have your blood pressure measured and begin treatment if indicated.

Breathing problem: The difficulty breathing you are experiencing is not typical of hypertension, unless your BP values are VERY high and you have heart changes and fluid buildup in your chest. From what you say, it seems you have some compression of your diaphragm.
