Is it common to have a serious infection w/o pain? i ask because i was hospitalized with a serious infection and had very little to no pain.

Yes: It depends on where the infection is located because certain organs have very few nerves in them and that may cause very little pain. Organs like liver and kidneys and lungs may not be as painful when infected unlike the guts, bladder or brain.
