Ear infection: Suggest you ask your doctor to clear the ear of wax so that the eardrum and ear can be better evaluated to see if you need more antibiotic or not.

Doxycycline?: If you have wax in your ear canal, how can your doctor possibly be giving you treatment without a definitive diagnosis? If you are talking about doxycycline, this is an antibiotic that is virtually never used for otitis media. Treatment always follows a diagnosis, you do not yet have a diagnosis for middle ear infection if your doctor can not see the ear drum. See an ent doc.
