Never: The baby grows inside the uterus the entire time. The uterus swells to accommodate the baby's size. As the baby grows, the uterus grows with it. It starts out in the pelvis, and as the pregnancy proceeds, it ends up in the abdomen. The other organs shift and move to get out of the way of the growing uterus. The stomach and intestines can be compressed by the uterus and feel smaller.
