Few Clinical Trials: No good answers; trial ; error ; no well designed large clinical trials for specific benefits vs harm in adults to guide selection, such as with prescription agents. Plus the dshea act of 1994 applies. Ok places to start: http://nccam.Nih.Gov/health/probiotics/introduction.Htm; http://cid.Oxfordjournals.Org/content/46/supplement_2/s101.Full ; search for "human probiotics research trials".

Probiotics: Form (yogurt/smoothy/capsules) less important than the species contained. Some are more beneficial than others. See: http://www.Webmd.Com/digestive-disorders/features/best-probiotics-use. There's much hype for different brands: see http://www.Livestrong.Com/article/254489-the-best-rated-probiotics/ your fp can help guide you based on reason you want/need them.
