TSH: As of february 2010, at most laboratories in the U.S., the official "normal" reference range for the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) blood test runs from approximately 0.5 to 4.5/5.0. Treatment would involve thyroid replacement medication to bring your TSH level into this range and monitor your physical exam and symptoms. Best wishes.

Normal level: We strive to reach a normal TSH when we treat a patient with hypothyroidism. Too much or too little thyroid replacement is not recommended. However there is some debate as to the desired TSH level which can be from 0.5 to 5.0 although currently an upper level of 3.0 is deemed more desirable. Consult a thyroidologist if you have further concern.
