Kidney bean: At 8 weeks the baby is the size of a kidney bean and the uterus is still well below your pubic bone. Things are very small at this point. You may sleep however you are comfortable.

Sleep comfort: I agree with Dr. Livingston. Although the size of your uterus shouldn't be a big issues, if you feel more comfortable sleeping on your side - I would do so.
