Eating pattern: For a diabetes under treatment i always say frequent small meals to avoid peaks and valleys of blood sugar. We don't have the liberty to eat frequent small meals all the time, but it is better. Digestion of large meals use less energy and frequent small meals use more energy for digestion like wholesale and retail. That's to avoid gaining weight.

Depends: It depends on what your goals are. If you are healthy and 3 meals a day meet your physical demands, go for it. If you have a gastrointestinal condition or diabetes which requires certain routine, smaller but more frequent meals may be needed. Also, a highly physical job may require more frequent meals to replenish calories.
