My baby has a strawberry birthmark under his right eye so far we have been using timopic to treat it, he's 6 mths. when do these birthmarks go away?

Difficult question: True hemangiomas tend to increase in size and thickness faster than a kid grows up until age ~12 mo, when they plateau in relative size and gradually begin to fade over 2-4 years.Oral propranalol with close monitoring has been used to try shrinking these with varied results. The Timoptic (timolol) is a similar medicine but designed to treat eye pressure issues in adults. It is not approved in the us for kids.
