Nevus of Ota?: Pigmentation that is in one eye, as well as darker pigmentation around the eye, is a condition more common in asians, called nevus of ota. Infrequently, this type of birthmark is associated with melanoma, a type of cancer, so see a pediatric ophthalmologist to evaluate the ocular and orbital anatomy. As a girl, she likely will be able to use make-up to cover any regions of darker pigmentation.

Nevus of Ota: This is a deposit of pigmented cells on the lower lid skin, the surface of the eye and usually inside the eye as well. There is no way to eliminate it although some techniques can minimize the skin portion. These have a long term tendency to some increase in malignancy so a regular check up with the ophthalmologist is wise.
