Category B: Keflex or Cephalexin is fda category b for pregnancy, which means that it was not shown to be harmful in animal studies but there is insufficient data in humans to tell for sure. In other words, it is ok to use if it is necessary, as it seems to be the case here.

What did your OB say: That antibiotic is safe in pregnancy and u want to stop the infection before it gets worse the infection should not affect the baby as long as it is properly treated and resolves.
