Could be gastritis: Pain in the upper mid portion of the abdomen in an otherwise healthy young person could be esophagitis, gastritis or gastric ulcer. One may try taking antacids, such as mylanta, acid blockers, such as zantac, (ranitidine) or acid reducers, such as omeprazole. If not better, or pain worsens, then one needs to be evaluated by one's doctor. However, go to er if pain is unbearable or if one has a fever.
