The liver: The liver and our brains are amazing organs. Most likely one is not likely to have impacted their health forever by drinking alcohol for a short time. Now the consequences of what happens when intoxicated may be another matter.

Yes: It depends on how heavily they drank as well as their health at the time of onset of drinking. Also, if they drank and did something else harmful such as smoking or drugs, plus their genetic make up. I would not lull myself with the idea that short term drinking is acceptable.
