Information: Path reports will describe the gross and microscopic attributes of the specimen. The gross will include the type of specimen, it's size and weight. Microscopic will describe the general cell type, whether it's benign or malignant , inflamed or not. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The basics: Patient identifying data, site from which the tissue was taken, a description of what was received by the pathologist and if so what type of preservative / fixative if any. On resected specimens, the description showcases the pathologist's sharp eyes. Almost always there will be a microscopic description of some portion stained in some way, unless it's orthopedic hardware or something similar.
