Inflammation: Inflammatory arthritis usually presents with the symptoms of inflammation - redness, swelling, heat over the affected joints, which is uncommon in cases of osteoarthritis. Sometimes osteoarthritis may cause a flare up similar to that of the inflammatory arthritis, but that's, again, not common. Inflammatory arthritis usually cause greater disability and more pronounced symptoms and joint changes.
