A member asked:

I just found out i have pcos, & currently taking metform for it. how long can it take for my menstrual to return, and can i still get pregnant ?

Uncertain: The most common cause for pcos is Insulin resistance. Decreasing Insulin resistance improves pcos, which is why metformin helps. But weight loss and exercise are as important as metformin in order to return menstruation to normal and improve the chance of pregnancy.

Varies: Whether the period returns with just metformin varies per person. It may and may not. Weight loss can help. Women with pcos can still get pregnant but it can be more difficult. D/w your ob-gyn and endocrinologist if you plan to try and conceive soon.
