The broken visual field that sometimes accompanies a migraine - what is the medical name for it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Scotoma: Migraine affecting the circulation to the occipital lobe, the part of the brain processing visual information, commonly causes a greying out of a portion of one side of the field surrounding by sparkling light. The greyed out portion is termed a scotoma. Fortunately these tend to be short term and end with no permanent change.
