Numbness/pain: Could be either or both. Get an x-ray and exam by orthopedic hand surgeon. Frostbite can cause major soft tissue and bone damage.

Cold injury: Cold injuries to nerves are likely to produce numbness vs a crush or break causing pain. If you had a cold injury that was bad enough to cause persistent numbness it is a good idea to have a doctor take a look at your finger.
