A member asked:

How often does bacterial sinusitis lead to meningitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Meningitis: This can occur but is rare. Bacteria may progress from areas in the head and neck to virtually any area of the central nervous system and produce meningitis, brain abscess, subdural empyema, etc. But these do not occur commonly and most doctors will not see a case in a lifetime. Infectious diseases experts and neurosurgeons see it more often.
