Peristalsis: Peristalsis refers to the natural movement of contents of the bowel due to contraction of the muscles of the intestines. If peristalsis is too fast, you have either diarrhea or very frequent bowel movements. If it is too slow, you have constipation.

VARIABLE: You may get diarrhea or constipation, if too fast may have malabsorption leading to weight loss in spite of eating well and a good appetite, may also get dehysration and electrolyte abnormalities and thjese can lead to all sorts of cardio pulmonary problems.
