If you can walk after an injury to the ankle. could it still be broken?

Possibly: Depending on pain tolerance and the extent of injury, some people can walk/put weight on an ankle that has an avulsion fracture (where a ligament is strained to its limit ; pulls off a piece of bone), or when the fracture involves only the fibula (the bone on the outside of the ankle). Some of these injuries require surgery, so walking alone should not determine whether you go in for treatment.

Yes.: The only way to know for sure is to obtain a set of xrays.
