A 45-year-old male asked:

Prescribed adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) 20mg x2 a day. bp average 124/84 80 to 87 resting pulse. recently pharmacy gave different generic (core) and had bp of 150/103 104 pulse. should i worry? or is this normal?

.: Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) both generic and brand named medication can cause increase in blood pressure. So if the blood pressure is increasing check with your physician again to see if you need to be on the same medication or if the medication needs to be adjusted.

HTN: It could be the side effect of amphetamines causing high BP and heart rate. Or you could be having anxiety disorder which is increasing your BP and heart rate. Consult your physician.
