Esophagitis: Esophagitis, inflammation of lining of esophagus, usually caused by gastroesophageal reflux or vomiting excessively. Esophagitis can be caused by infection of esophagus. If left untreated, this condition can become very uncomfortable, causing problems with swallowing, ulcers, and scarring of the esophagus. Should see physician for workup and proper medical therapy.
