Is it possible to know for sure when i'm ovulating just by calculating days in the cycle?

No: Ovulation is variable. I'm not sure if it still available but there was a thermometer (not the usual kind to use when you have an infection) but one that can measure temperature changes in narrow degrees to indicate ovulation. Ask your pharmacist or gyn if it is still available.
