Hiatus hernia: Some people call it hiatal hernia, when the top part of the stomach slides into the chest cavity. This part of the stomach still has acid and can have ulcer but now with acid there, there is nothing to prevent acid from causing ulcer and irritation in the esophagus. See your doctor and get referral to GI for proper evaluation and treatment and even surgery if needed.
