GET HELP: There are self-help programs (alcoholics anonymous, narcotics anonymous, smart recovery, lifering secular recovery) you can find in the phone book. Professional treatment programs ditto - look under alcohol and drug treatment. You have to start with wanting to stop enough to do more than type about it, get off your butt and get the help you need. Family programs for loved ones are also available.
