What are the effects of drug addicted mothers on their children?

Dr. Richard Pollard answered

See below: A mother that is actively taking drugs can pass the drugs onto the baby. This means that the child can be born addicted to the same drugs that the mother is taking. All drugs and medications taken by the mother should be disclosed to the obstetrician so that steps can be taken to minimize the risk to the child.
