CMT: Is an inherited motor neuron disease. People have a normal life expectancy as CMT affects peripheral nerves and is characterized by muscle weakness in the lower leg. It should have no affect on diabetes directly. Diabetes that is not well controlled can also cause neuropathy and compound the cmt. Please see your specialist to discuss your particular case in more depth than is available here.
