Chemical and physica: A carcinogen is any chemical of physical agent that can damage the dna or promote cell growth. Examples are tobacco, alcohol, benzene, arsenic, some microbes and their products, x-ray, hormones, drugs etc. Carcinogen is not one chemical or agent. There effects are often synergistic in a bad way.
