A member asked:

Is there any evidence that shows that digesting plastic is a carcinogen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

None that i know of: Plastic is an inert substance which is not digested or absorbed by the body. Heating certain plastics will cause the plastic to burn and release toxic gases which can be harmful if inhaled in significant quantities. I know of no studies showing that eating of plastic increases ones risk of developing cancer.
