No magic answer: "ideal weight" charts are entertainment. A 12 year old boy doesn't need any body fat -- the less, the better. If he's taking part effectively in sports, and is trim, his weight is fine. A teenaged girl does need a little body fat for the hormonal symphony to work effectively, but again, not much more. Low bodyfat and being able to take part in one's favorite sport successfully is good weight.
