Serious stuff: Inability to chew with force and comfort, jaw muscle tightness with inability to open jaw with comfort, clicking popping of jaw joints, frequent headaches with sore face and neck muscles..Just to mention a few.

Symptoms worse.: Tmj problems can over time improve, get worse, or stay the same. Your current symptoms - jaw pain, limited oral opening, cllcking, headache, etc can all worsen. If your symptoms are minor, you can elect non treatment.
