See answer: The size of a kidney or ureteral stone can only be determined by an imaging study: ct scan, kub, and renal ultrasound are the most commonly used imaging studies. Ct: most accurate study for detecting the presence of a stone in kidney or ureter. If the stone is visualized on kub, this is the most accurate for correct size. Renal ultrasound: least commonly used and not best for ureteral stones.
