A member asked:

Help please? i want to know what are some common alcohol addiction myths?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Are there myths?: Other than "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic, " i don't know that there are any. The problem is not too many beliefs about it, but too much denial that it exists. The myth that you can't be alcoholic if you are working, or have a family, or are middle class are just that - myths. Alcoholism occurs in all races, classes, ethnic groups and at all ages, and occurs in the rich as well as the poor.
