Just how is angiogenesis related to cancer?

It helps tumors grow: Angiogenesis is the development of blood vessels. This happens in normal tissues, but also occurs in tumors. Some drugs, like Avastin (bevacizumab) used in combination with chemotherapy for colorectal cancer, target angiogenesis to stop tumor growth.

Cancers cause: Trouble by leasving their home base, entering the blood stream, exiting it, *building a new blood supply* and growing. They also have to evade the surveillance immune system. Eash step comlex molecular path. The most famous anti-angiogenesis drug is bevasuzumab, but many small molecules do similar work. Cut off the blood supply; kill th tumor. The develoment of the heart depends on these paths.
