Anesthesia : In general, anesthesia is provided before removal of the appendix. Most likely this is general anesthesia and the patient will be put to sleep for this. There can be post-operative pain, which generally is mild to moderate and can be managed with oral pain medications. Patients are usually discharged from the hospital within 24-48 hours after surgery.
