Usually minor: Airbag deployment can cause injury, but it's usually minor. The risk for serious injury increases when the person is too close to the airbag module when it deploys. The national highway traffic safety administration recommends drivers sit at least 10 inches behind the center of the steering wheel & children under 12 be properly restrained in a rear seat. http://www.nhtsa.gov/people/injury/airbag.
