Tonsillectomy : 30-45 minute surgical procedure under general anesthetic with a breathing tube in place. Through the mouth, the tonsils are removed, usually with a cautery pen without the need for knives or stitches. The surgery is easy to perform but the recovery, especially in adults, is not fun for 2-3 weeks because of a strep-throat-like sore throat. Best of luck.
