May be nothing: There may be nothing wrong. During an extraction there is some pressure place on the adjacent teeth and sometimes they can be a bit tender afterwards. There is healing going on in the bone and the tissues where you had you tooth removed. If you have any concerns about healing pain call the extracting dentist. They know the situation best.

Likely nothing: A neighboring tooth of an extraction site will start to move into the site and become tender. Also yo may have some residual swelling around the area that may be tender for awhile. If it doesn't stop in a couple of days, see your dentist for a follow up.

Time frame?: How long after the extraction? May be within normal limits. If more than a few days after extraction, contact dentist.

Very common: During a complicate extraction, it's possible for some dental instruments to press on a tooth next to the one being removed. This should settle down in a few days.
