A member asked:

Help please? how long does it take the burn feeling of acid reflux to go away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends...: ...on the extent of mucosa damage (if any), the effectiveness of peristalsis (e.g. acid clearance), lower esophageal function, the rate of gastric emptying, and the degree to which your medication blocks or neutralizes acid. Some drugs take longer to work than others. Also, there may be another condition that mimic"acid reflux" for which acid blockers may be inappropriate or sub-therapeutic.
