Merits an evaluation: See your doctor, or a specialist. A cardiologist, pulmonologist, orthopedic surgeon, rheumatologist or neurologist could do the systematic evaluation to determine the cause. A careful physical exam, EKG, chest X-rays, cervical spine X-rays or MRI might reveal the underlying cause of the pain. A stress test would help exclude coronary heart disease.
