Help please? how is the doctor going to check/treat me for rectal bleeding?

Dr. Eric Kaplan answered

Specializes in Colon and Rectal Surgery

Depends on the type: Of doctor you see, ie fp, GI or colorectal. Most will start off with a detailed history, then a visual and digital rectal exam looking for obvious source of bleeding, maybe an anoscopy that looks just inside the anus and lower rectum. Depending on the results of all of above and your family history, may suggest colonoscopy and or egd or upper endoscopy. Do not ignore the symptom.
