Sinus inf & smell: Sinus infections can definitely alter your sense of smell. First of all, with the thickening of the mucous membranes and the presence of extra thick mucous, your smell receptors in the nose don't work as well; and (2) if bacteria are present along with purulent drainage, the germs in this carry their own rather unpleasant odor. Sinus infections can also be a cause of bad breath.

Every time I get a sinus infection I have this weird, almost sweet but yet, annoyingly sweet smell in my nose. Its with every infection Ive had since 2018. Ive had drs tell me its normal live with it. I dont want to live with it?
